Our Institute was founded as a "Gazarchin" by order No. 136 dated June 29, 1995 of Minister of Science and Education.
It was accredited at higher education institution until 2018 and certified by Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and it is the first Institute that started to prepare tourism specialists. Institute’s historical background is divided into following stages.
- The period of having college status authorized to award undergraduate degree of higher education /1995-2002/
- The period of having higher education institute status authorized to award undergraduate and postgraduate degrees /from 2002 until now/
With historical background of over 20 years, the Institute conducts undergraduate and postgradute courses in 24 majors including mining, tourism, engineering, and education in form of day, evening, and extramural. Total of over 20 areas including 7 of undergraduate and postgraduate programs under "priority professional areas" approved by Resolution No. 71 of Government dated 2014 are being provided In addition, our Institute has 3 study buildings, a dormitory and we have provided neccesary facilities including classrooms, laboratories, teaching devices, libraries, cafeterias, etc., and fully equipped with a comfortable learning environment.

In Sep 01, 1995, it started its educational activities with 48 students and 18 lecturers for the first academic year. Also, student council was established.

In Sep 01, 1996, study department was re-establsihed and deputy doctor Sh. Shagdar was appointed as a chairman.

In November 2002, our Institute was named as "Gazarchin" with status of a higher education institute. Previously, its name was College of Tourism Management from 1995 to 2002.

In 2002, study permit of postgraduate program in Business Administration was obtained and commenced the program with 20 postgraduate students. Also, admission for evening class of tourism and industrial management program was organized.

In 2002, with resolution of Minister of Education, Culture, and Science of Mongolia, study permission to conduct training in areas of Mining Surveyor, Mining Technology Engineer, Geological Engineer, and Mining Electric Equipment Engineer was obtained and

In Sep, 2003, number of seats for first shift was 1500, and capacity of student dormitory was 80 students.

In 2015, it met standard criteria of American Accreditation Council for Business School Programs (ACBSP), APQN Asia Pacific Quality Network Organization (APQN) and joined as member and aims to deliver quality of education to international standards.

From Nov, 2016, scientific conference "Mineral Resources – acadenic research" named after former professor A. Damdinbazar is organized annually.
